EARTHBOUND FLOWERS
This mug has been wheel-thrown from stoneware clay. It was initially fired to approximately 1060 degrees Celsius. An earthy brown glaze was applied, with a pattern of flowers embedded into the design. A reactive glaze has been purposefully applied to the edges, allowing natural spontaneity within the glaze to flow. After application, the mug was then re-fired to approximately 1240 degrees Celsius.
Key qualities
Material: high-fired stoneware for durability and functional use.
Glaze: reactive glazes that create varied surfaces and intentional bleeding and colour runs. Earthy silky matt brown with high gloss white and intentional matt to gloss transition.
Size: One mug listed as a large medium with a large handle. One mug listed as a slightly smaller medium with a smaller handle.
What to expect
Unique patterns of movement and colour; no two mugs are ever identical.
Natural variations such as small run marks, pooled glaze, and slight colour shifts.
A stable, functional vessel suitable for daily use and display.
Care
Handwashing recommend.
Avoid sudden temperature changes (do not move directly from freezer to hot liquid).
Minor surface variations are inherent to the piece and part of its character.
Finish: commercially available glaze rated by manufacture as food-safe and lead free
