This small mug has been made using a ‘hand pinch’ method with stoneware-clay with a female sketch etched into the inside bottom. It was initially fired to approximately 1060 degrees Celsius. Then a coating of clear glaze and a blue colour was applied and re-fired to approximately 1240 degrees Celsius.
Key qualities
Material: high-fired stoneware for durability and functional use.
Glaze: illustrative sketch underpinning the basis of my larger sculptural work, with a high gloss finish
Size: small. Perfect for herbal teas and flat whites
Care
Handwashing recommend.
Avoid sudden temperature changes (do not move directly from freezer to hot liquid).
Please note that the drawing is hand-etched into the base of the vessel, creating indentations. When washing, take a little extra care to ensure these areas are thoroughly cleaned and free from residue.
I use commercially available glazes rated as food safe, and lead free. Due to the nature of layering colours, the finish combination is inherently unique and therefore not individually tested.
This woman drawn mug is a daily playful reminder to both honour and celebrate your body, and move through life with softness.
