This mug has been wheel-thrown from stoneware clay. It was initially fired to approximately 1060 degrees Celsius. Glaze was then applied and re-fired to approximately1240 degrees Celsius.
Although I control the placement of the glaze, the glaze’s behaviour is allowed to follow its own course during it’s firing. Drips, streaks, and unexpected blends become part of the piece with an intentional embrace of spontaneity.

Glaze: reactive glazes that create varied surfaces, subtle colour runs, and organic textures under a gloss finish.
