This mug has been wheel-thrown from stoneware clay. It was initially fired to approximately 1060 degrees Celsius. Glaze was then applied and re-fired to approximately1240 degrees Celsius.

Although I control the placement of the glaze, the glaze’s behaviour is allowed to follow its own course during it’s firing. Drips, streaks, and unexpected blends become part of the piece with an intentional embrace of spontaneity.

This mug is for those who appreciate the poetry of process - objects that reflect both the maker’s intention and the kiln’s reply, where controlled chance becomes an essential part of the design.

Key qualities

  • Material: high-fired stoneware for durability and functional use.

  • Glaze: layered, reactive glazes that create varied surfaces—matte to glossy transitions, subtle colour runs, and organic textures.

  • Form: balanced, ergonomic silhouette shaped for everyday comfort and use

Care

  • Handwashing recommend.

  • Avoid sudden temperature changes (do not move directly from freezer to hot liquid).

  • Minor surface variations are inherent to the piece and part of its character.

  • Each piece is a one-off, created through layered and experimental glaze combinations to achieve unique, unrepeatable finishes. I use commercially available glazes rated as food safe, and lead free. Due to the nature of layering, the finish combination is inherently unique and therefore not individually tested.
