This mug has been wheel-thrown from stoneware-clay. It was initially fired to approximately 1060 degrees Celsius. An illustrative sketch was drawn. A coating of clear glaze was applied to the exterior and a reactive cool-toned glaze to the interior, then re-fired to approximately 1240 degrees Celsius.
Key qualities
Material: high-fired stoneware for durability and functional use.
Glaze: illustrative sketch underpinning the basis of my larger sculptural work, with a high gloss finish exterior. Reactive cool-toned glaze with subtle colour runs and organic texture on the interior.
Finish: food-safe, lead-free glaze
Care
Handwashing recommend.
Avoid sudden temperature changes (do not move directly from freezer to hot liquid).
Minor surface variations are inherent to the piece and part of its character.
