My functional ceramic ware forms an essential and grounding part of my wider practice. While my sculptural work explores the body and femininity through scale and abstraction, my functional pieces allow for experimentation within differing skills of practice.

I create these pieces using predominantly hand-thrown wheel techniques. Working on the wheel offers a different, yet equally meditative and rhythmic relationship with clay.

Creating functional ware has also opened an important space for experimentation within my practice. That being, working with glaze. The controlled chaos of glaze allows me to explore freely - layers melt and mingle, colours bloom unpredictably, and textures emerge through the firing process. This spontaneity mirrors feminine energy, where trusting intuition means embracing chance as part of the making.

These pieces also become a form of documentation for the illustrative sketches that underpin my larger sculptural works, allowing ideas to be explored through smaller, functional forms.

Rather than striving for uniformity, my work continues to embrace variation, celebrating individuality and the presence of the human hand.
